Overview
Türkiye's geography is its greatest logistics asset — one country bordering Europe, the Caucasus, Iran, Iraq and the sea lanes to the Gulf.
Every corridor has its own rhythm: its own gates, paperwork, peak-hour congestion and seasonal quirks. Knowing them is the difference between a two-day crossing and a two-day wait. Below is how we run each of the routes our clients use most.
Türkiye ↔ Iraq & the Kurdistan Region
The primary land gateway is the Habur crossing on the Turkish side, connecting to Ibrahim Khalil on the Kurdistan Region side — one of the busiest commercial borders in the region and the main artery for trade into Erbil, Duhok, Sulaymaniyah and onward to central and southern Iraq.
This is a heavy-traffic corridor, so preparation matters. Letters of credit are common, pre-shipment inspection is often required, Arabic labelling is expected on many goods, and wood packaging must meet ISPM-15. We stage documents in advance and coordinate the receiving broker so trucks aren't held while paperwork catches up.
For Kurdistan-bound cargo, confirm the consignee's import documentation and any product certification before loading — it's the single biggest cause of delay at Ibrahim Khalil.
Türkiye ↔ Iran
The main crossings are Gürbulak–Bazargan (the busiest Türkiye–Iran gate) and Kapıköy–Razi further north, which also carries rail. These corridors handle transit to Iran and onward to Central Asia.
Trade on this corridor needs careful planning on the commercial side. Banking and payment routes can be restricted, so we help confirm the payment and compliance picture early — before a deal is agreed — and manage the transit documentation (TIR, CMR) and the crossing itself.
Türkiye ↔ Europe
The overland route to Europe runs through Kapıkule, on the Bulgarian border — Türkiye's main gate to the EU — with Ro-Ro ferry services offering a fast alternative that skips congested land transit for parts of the journey.
The big advantage here is the EU–Türkiye Customs Union: most industrial goods travel with an A.TR Movement Certificate and zero customs duty. We handle the A.TR, the T1 transit and the classification so your goods qualify — and keep an eye on the CN 2026 tariff updates that affect coding.
Sea & Air
Not everything moves by road. From Turkish ports we arrange sea freight (FCL and LCL) to the Gulf and worldwide, and air freight when speed matters most. We pick the mode — or the multimodal combination — that fits your deadline and budget, and manage clearance at both ends.
- Sea freight: full and part container loads from Turkish ports to the Gulf, Asia, Africa and Europe.
- Air freight: for urgent, high-value or perishable cargo where transit time is critical.
- Multimodal: road + sea + rail combinations that optimise cost and time on longer lanes.
Indicative transit times
A guide only — actual times depend on the gate, season, mode and paperwork readiness. We give a firm estimate with every quote.
| Route | Main gate | Indicative time |
|---|---|---|
| Türkiye → Kurdistan Region / Iraq | Habur / Ibrahim Khalil | ~2–5 days (road) |
| Türkiye → Iran | Gürbulak / Kapıköy | ~3–6 days (road) |
| Türkiye → EU (Germany) | Kapıkule / Ro-Ro | ~5–8 days (road) |
| Türkiye → Gulf (GCC) | Sea / Ro-Ro | varies by port & service |
